He manages the Kenya office, oversees business development for East Africa and leads our Agri-finance and Rural Banking programmes known as finance for agriculture (f4a) in Kenya and Uganda (

Mr. Susan has close to 30 years of financial sector experience. He started his career with ABN AMRO Bank in the early 1980s, and held various commercial banking roles throughout Asia Pacific, North and South America as well as Europe. In his capacity of Programme Director for First Merchant Bank, he was one of the architects behind the successful design and rollout of FMB Bank’s successful retail banking franchise in Malawi.

Mr. Susan’s knowledge of the African banking market is profound. He serves on several Boards, and has been a founding Director of the EUR 20 million Annona Sustainable Investment Fund.

He has been educated at the Nijenrode Business University in the Netherlands and the London School of Economics.
